“What good does knowing do with no one to show it to” – Jason Isbell from Tired of Traveling Alone

Outreach with scientists and non-scientists of all ages has grown to be one of my favorite parts of my work. My outreach experience includes:

• Leading field demonstrations of bat capturing techniques and viral sample collection in Bolivia and Puerto Rico, communicating in both English and Spanish

•  “Science Day” participation at a local elementary school

• Participant and program co-coordinator of the “Ask-a-Scientist” program at a local high school

• Middle school science fair judge

• Science Olympiad co-supervisor
